Link from Langlees Wood to Carronshore Path

Project Description:

The project involves the creation and upgrading of access routes for the recreational benefit of the communities of Langlees, Cobblebrae and users of the canal network / the Greenspace access network. The provision of a through footpath addresses a missing link in the local footpath network providing a core footpath access project as identified in Falkirk Councils recent access research and community consultation activities.

The main objective is to provide important access paths which will serve two communities that of the housing estate at Langlees, Cobblebrae and also for those utilising the canal facilities to enable them to access the adjacent community woodlands. By providing public access this will generate a through route which whilst addressing the missing link in the local access network provides a safe off road route between and for these communities and facilities. The provision of the surfaced footpath will seek to utilise materials recycled from road upgrading, primarily as the sub-grade of the path providing an appropriate base on which to develop the full route.

The additional tree planting as part of this project will provide further important habitat for wildlife and provide opportunities for additional bio-diversity by linking to the adjacent riparian corridor and existing woodland network.

Use of FET Grant::

The money will be used as part payment for site preparation, materials, saplings, plant hire and contractual fees.

Environmental Benefits::

Apart form the benefits to local people and visitors to the area in terms of the linked path networks, there will be a benefit to wildlife in the area. The tree planting will create additional wild life habitat and form a corridor along the side of the river, linking two wooded areas.
