Falkirk Environment Trust runs the Small Grants Scheme funded by donations made from Scottish Natural Heritage and Falkirk Council. In some cases landfill Tax credits can be used.
A Small Grant can be anything from a few pounds to up to £4,500. This grant scheme is much more flexible than the Main Grants Scheme, and is fast tracked, with an answer being given within a few days of application. Generally, Small Grants can be awarded against projects that will;
Improve the environment of the Falkirk area in some way, eg. community gardens, habita enhancements
Raise awareness of environmental issues that affect the Falkirk area,
Run Community in Events such as Litter picks or conservation workdays.
Build the capacity of a group to make a Main Grants Scheme application, and/ or other environmental funders (eg business planning and feasibility studies etc.)
Build capacity in communities through start up grants e.g. money for insurances, tools, etc. ( Please note that special rules apply to the purchase of tools and equipment through FET Grants).
Each application will be taken on it's own merits, but will be judged on the match to the following general Small Grant criteria:
- Status of group/organisation.
- Need for the project
- Does the project fit with FET Objects and priorities.
- Location of project and benefits.
- Maintenance, after care and sustainability
-
Project description/costs/ timescale/ outcomes.
-
Value for money.
-
Consents/ permissions/ insurance.
-
Innovative and new project ideas.
IF you have a project idea, contact the FET Development Manager for assistance and advice.
- Any project which will directly benefit an individual, company or landowner
- Any project that does not benefit the environment and people of Falkirk.
- Projects which appear to be poorly planned, or for which the applications and enclosures are incomplete.
- Projects which have not consulted with local stakeholders, or that do not have full written permission from the landowner.
- Projects that could bring Falkirk Environment Trust and it's Directors into disrepute.
